Akron police and the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force are asking the public for help in apprehending a 26-year-old Akron man wanted for murder and attempted murder in two shootings within the past three weeks.The fugitive was identified by police as Kennard Samuel Lee Gay of East Avenue.Gay is wanted on a charge of aggravated murder in the shooting of Melvin Coleman on Saturday outside Kelly’s Kitchen, 745 Copley Road.Gay was involved in an altercation with Coleman, Akron Police Lt. Rick Edwards said.Gay also is wanted on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault in a shooting Aug. 18 in the 800 block of McKinley Avenue in Akron.Police say multiple shots were fired at a 32-year-old man in his car. The victim was not hit by the gunfire, but was cut by broken window glass.Edwards said a reward is being offered by the U.S. Marshals Service task force for information leading directly to Gay’s arrest.Gay is a black male, 5-foot-8, 170 pounds.
